D.C ......in cupcake heaven! @ 7:42 PM
2 comments

I've stood in line for many things before: the financial aid line in college, the line to get into the courthouse (for work), movie tickets.....etc. However.....I've never stood in line for......a CUPCAKE. Usually the sight of a line usually turns me off from whatever is at the front. I guess it comes as no surprise that there is an exception when it comes to food. So when my friend Dana and I approached Georgetown Cupcakes, the bakery TLC's "DC Cupcakes" is based on, the long line didn't phase me one bit!.....ok....it was a little hot....but they handed out water so it was bearable.

 So. Many. Cupcakes!!!!!
There was so much yummy goodness packed in this little pink box!

Cheers!!!!

Dana had the vanilla birthday cake, and I had the red velvet cupcake (my fav cupcake flavor). The cupcakes were so moist and full of flavor and the frosting was very rich and creamy.

Grade: A+++

I'm sure it's a food faux pas to have dessert before dinner.....but *kanye shrug* .....we had our cake in the day and this amazing Lebanese restaurant that night. I was literally in a food coma after dinner.....and you will see why:

ME JANA in Arlington, Va. offers a Dinner Set-Up option, where for a set price, you get an array.....and I mean array of different foods.

Grape leaves (bottom left corner), hummus (center), arayas: ground pita bread stuffed with ground beef and lamb (left) cheese rolls: manchego and feta cheese in phylo dough fried crispy (top right), hummus w/meat (bottom right corner), tabouleh (top center)
falafel: chickpeas + fava beans croquettes w/tahini sauce, tomato, parsley, and mint

Rice, and Mixed Grill: chicken, lamb, and kafta kabobs. Kafta kabob =  ground beer and lamb mixed w/onion,  parsley, and spices.

my plate at some point......there were more dishes on the table that aren't pictured. There was a lot of food!
I really really REALLY enjoyed ME JANA!

Dessert.....some strawberry, custard, and banana creation called  Achta

The next morning we had brunch at Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe and Grill. A really cool spot that is a bookstore combined with a restaurant.

French toast, bacon, and eggs.

salmon + egg scramble

the weather and view was amazing.....

what is even more amazing is that mimosa's are $3 during Saturday brunch! #winning.....it's hard to give a bad grade to a place that sells $3 mimosa's!

Wow....this food adventure was a little backwards......dessert, dinner, then brunch! ****shrugs*****

I'm a newly 30 (and I stress newly) year old attorney with a passion for good food. I guess I would fall under the category of "foodie" I love to eat.... sleep..... shop.... and eat! I find that my friends will often come to me for recommendations on restaurants for special occasions such as birthday dinners. The hardest question for me to answer is, "What is your favorite food"..... I really don't have "A" favorite food... because I truly enjoy eating a wide variety of cuisines. I decided to start this blog because I'm tired of hearing my facebook friends complain about me uploading food pictures every other week. Why not channel these pictures into a more effective mode of communication like a blog... and there you have it... the birth of Chow Bella! Enjoy!.... or should I say... Bon Appetite!
